The Mass of St. Basil. Pierre Subleyras.

Today is the feast of St. Basil the Great, the influential Christian theologian of the 4th century. One of the most beautiful prayers of Basil is as follows:

Blessed art Thou, O Christ our God, who hast
revealed the fishermen as most wise, having
sent upon them the Holy Spirit. And through
them Thou hast fished the universe, O Lover of
mankind, glory to Thee!
